At the Movies: Wreck-It Ralph and Paperman

Today I saw Wreck-It Ralph, one of my favorite movies of the year. In fact, I think it probably is my third favorite film of the year, behind The Avengers and Moonrise Kingdom. The video game setting was fun, the animation was great, and the story achieved that delicate and elusive balance between humor and sentiment. I really enjoyed the voice acting of the cast, especially John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman.

As enjoyable as the feature film was, the short that preceded it was even better. Obviously I'll need to watch it again, and let it sink in a bit, but I'm pretty certain it is one of my favorite pieces of animation. Everything about it was simply magnificent.

I highly recommend that you go out and see these two fine works as soon as you possibly can. If you've already seen them, go see them again.
